Extractions

§ Do not eat or drink (except to take medication) for 2 hours prior to the appointment. Do not eat a very heavy meal 4 hours before the procedure

§ No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.

§ Do not smoke for 2 days after the surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible.

§ Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, comfortable shoes

§ Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.

§ If you have an illness such as a fever, cough, cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office.

Implants

§ Make sure you brush your teeth before arriving to the appointment. If you need to eat after that, please notify the office so that we can have you brush your teeth. Antibacterial mouth rinse will be done when you are seated for the procedure.

§ Pleas prepare for not being able to chew on the site of surgery for 2 weeks. If needed, smoothies or nutritional shakes are good alternatives, but also consider consulting your nutritionist.

§ Dentures over the implants will not be able to be worn for about 2 weeks. Please prepare for this, or discuss with your dentist for relieving the inside of partial dentures, that you can wear it.
